Come explore the variety of winter activities that can be done in the Straits of Mackinac region, right from the comfort of your own home! Each virtual session tackles a different activity along with how to partake safely and what equipment you will need. Join us in our snowman building contest and show off your skills! The winter Life of the Straits series is designed to be a learning event for ALL ages, and they DO NOT have to be enrolled in 4-H. The goal is to teach the public about stewardship and the many activities the Straits of Mackinac has to offer in the wintertime. Each virtual session will start at 6pm and will cover a different activity:
January 26, 6pm: Ice fishing
January 28, 6pm: Backyard activities
February 2, 6pm: Sledding
February 4, 6pm: Snowshoeing/winter hiking
February 9, 6pm: Cross-country skiing
Participants will learn how to dress for each activity along with the proper equipment needed, and how to do these activities safely. Don’t have the proper gear? No worries! We’ve got you covered on finding places where you can rent or buy. During this series we will have a Snowmanship Contest as well! Participants can build their own snowman and at the end of the series we will pick a winner. Come along with us as we explore the winter wonderland of The Straits of Mackinac and its beautiful surroundings!
