SUMMARY:2021 Lake Huron Fisheries Workshop - Nearshore Fisheries Session
DESCRIPTION:Location: Zoom\nSpring fishery workshops – online this year – offer current research and information related to the status of the Lake Huron fishery. \nMichigan Sea Grant and Michigan State University Extension\, in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division\, USGS Great Lakes Science Center\, US Fish and Wildlife Service\, and local fishery organizations annually host evening regional workshops across Lake Huron’s coastline. \nWorkshops are free and open to the public\, these online workshops will provide valuable information for anglers\, charter captains\, resource professionals\, and interested community members. This workshop includes topics such as fish populations and angler catch data\, forage or prey fish surveys\, offshore fisheries\, along with fisheries management activities and other Lake Huron topics of local interest. Workshops provide valuable information for anglers\, charter captains\, resource professionals\, and interested community members. \nThis workshop also focuses on popular nearshore fisheries of Lake Huron such as Saginaw Bay fisheries\, including Yellow Perch and Walleye fisheries updates\, Les Cheneaux Island area and St. Marys River fisheries. \nThese workshops are typically held across coastal Lake Huron communities each year\, but due to novel coronavirus and social distancing guidelines we are hosting a variation of this year’s workshops in a virtual\, online format using a platform called Zoom. \nAgenda for webinar is tentatively planned as follows: \n\nIntroductions (Michigan Sea Grant)\nSaginaw Bay Walleye & Yellow Perch Fisheries Updates (DNR Fisheries Research)\nLes Cheneaux Island Area Fisheries Overview (DNR Fisheries Research)\nSt Marys River Fisheries Overview (DNR Fisheries)\nDouble Crested Cormorant Management Updates (USDA Wildlife Services)\nManagement Updates (DNR Fisheries Management)\n\nRegistration for this event is free\, but you must register. \nA link to the Zoom webinar will be provided to all registrants once registration is confirmed\, and again on the morning of April 29. \nRegistration closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 29\, 2021. \nRegister Online
