Sponsored by Detroit Public TV’s Great Lakes Now and the University of Michigan Great Lakes Theme Semester\, the #LakeEffects series will feature fascinating documentary films\, short videos\, and Q&A sessions with subject matter experts. \nOn April 2\, join us for the first night\, focusing on the theme of “HAZARDS.” Featured films include Great Lakes\, Bad Lines and The Forever Chemicals. The films will be followed by a Q&A panel with several special guests\, including a UM student who started his own clothing company! \nTo make sure you can stay healthy while enjoying fabulous Great Lakes documentaries and short films\, all sessions of the #LakeEffects Film Series will now be streamed online ONLY! All films will now be livestreamed over Zoom\, starting at 7pm. Our guest speakers will be joining remotely as well\, so you’ll still get the full film series experience — with your own bowl of popcorn in the comfort of your home or office. \nWhile the on-campus screenings have been canceled\, it’s easy to join remotely. SUMMARY:Ubly/Bad Axe Fisheries Workshop
DESCRIPTION:All April 2020 in-person Lake Huron Fishery Workshops are canceled. We are exploring new online delivery opportunities for future fisheries education programs – stay tuned! \nSpring fishery workshops offer current research and information related to the status of the Lake Huron fishery Michigan Sea Grant and Michigan State University Extension\, in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division\, USGS Great Lakes Science Center\, and local fishery organizations will be hosting four evening regional workshops across Lake Huron’s coastline. \nOpen to the public\, these workshops will provide valuable information for anglers\, charter captains\, resource professionals\, and interested community members. Workshops will include information and status updates on topics such as fish populations and angler catch data\, forage or prey fish surveys\, offshore fisheries and native Lake Trout\, status of Saginaw Bay Yellow Perch and Walleye\, as well as updates on fisheries management activities\, citizen science opportunities for anglers\, and a variety of other Lake Huron topics of local interest. \nYou are invited to participate!
