The Great Lakes Best Management Practices Guide<\/i> was originally published in September 2012 as part of the Green Marina Education and Outreach Project, funded through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. In 2017, an updated version of the guide was produced to include new best management practices related to coastal resilience and other topics.<\/p>\n

The guide was produced in collaboration with marina operators, representatives from regulatory agencies, and others.<\/p>\n

Scope and Purpose<\/h2>\n

The BMP Guide provides an inventory of common and suggested marina and boatyard best management practices (BMPs) used in the certification-based Clean Marina programs in the Great Lakes States. The BMP Guide also provided the basis for a common online training tool, the Clean Marina Classroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The BMP Guide serves as a suggested standard for Clean Marina Program certification requirements. The document will be subject to periodic review with assistance from the Great Lakes Clean Marina Network.<\/p>\n
