Great Lakes Clean Marina Network

The Great Lakes Clean Marina Network is a branch of the Green Marina Outreach and Education Project, an effort designed to help reduce or eliminate pollution from entering the Great Lakes through boating and marina activities by supporting existing Clean Marina efforts.

The Great Lakes Clean Marina Network was formed in 2011 and meets via conference call on a quarterly basis. As a marina stakeholder, we welcome your participation in regional discussions and initiatives about Clean Marina efforts. The Network provides a forum for Clean Marina programs and marina-related initiatives in the Great Lakes region. Topics for discussion and action have included boat bottom washing requirements, “No Discharge Zone” exemptions and aquatic invasive species.

During the project period (2010-2013) the Network served to complement and advance the work of project teams (e.g., publication of a regional BMP Guide, revision of the Clean Marina Classroom). The Network will also sustain project goals and efforts beyond 2013.  By acting as a collective of marina, agency and lake stakeholders, we will be able to exercise a unified voice in pursuing basin-wide initiatives.
