Impact of Dredging the Grand River in Ottawa County

July 17, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

dredge Grand River

Join Dr. Dan O’Keefe for a look at the environmental impacts of dredging the Grand River. The Grand River Waterway Project seeks to link the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids to Lake Michigan in an effort to stimulate economic vitality. Is the proposed plan worth the environmental risks and hidden costs?

This presentation will include an update on the status of the project, and an opportunity to learn more about kayak and fishing opportunities at parks along the Grand River. Sunset paddling and fishing on the Grand River will be available after the program from 8:15-9:15 PM.

Pre-registration for the presentation is free. Space is limited to 35 people. Register for the presentation on the Ottawa County Parks website.

Kayak reservations are optional and separate from the presentation registration. To reserve a kayak for this event, please contact Lakeshore Kayak at (616) 566-1325. Cost per kayak is $25. Staff from Lakeshore Kayak will bring all pre-rented boats to the event.

7:00 pm-8:00 pm presentation followed by optional fishing and kayaking 8:15-9:15 pm.
