Critical Conversations in Michigan Tourism: Sustainability and Climate Change

The MSU Extension Tourism Team is excited to offer the upcoming free online seminar series: “Critical Conversations in Michigan Tourism: Sustainability and Climate Change.” This series will focus on how issues related to changing climate and sustainability practices impact tourism in Michigan, and will suggest some steps your community can take to address these issues in your tourism and community development efforts.

Sessions will include:

  1. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 12:00-1:30pm EST: Overview of climate change and the Great Lakes (presented by Michigan Sea Grant Extension Educator Elliot Nelson)
  2. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 12:00-1:30pm EST: Impact of climate change on winter outdoor recreation
  3. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 12:00-1:30pm EST: Climate adaptation planning for local units of government
  4. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 12:00-1:30pm EST: Possible funding sources for climate adaptation projects
